A multi-instrumentalist with a silvery vocal tone, Erin McKeown is a singer-songwriter, composer, and producer known for blazing a bold trail. Her 10 albums encompass pop, swing, rock, and folk. Leading her own band, she has performed at Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and the Newport Folk Festivals. A familiar presence on NPR and the BBC, McKeown’s songs have also appeared in numerous commercials and television shows.
In 2018 her first musical, Miss You Like Hell, opened Off-Broadway at The Public Theater. Telling the story of an undocumented Mexican mother and her troubled, estranged daughter as they reassess their relationship on a cross-country road trip, the production was a phenomenal success, racking up 5 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Lyrics, Best Music and Best Orchestration. The Wall Street Journal named it Best Musical of 2018.
McKeown has long been an out, proud advocate for feminism, liberation and the LGBTQ community. It is a huge honor to have her kick off this new, monthly LGBTQ Pride Night series at Caffe Lena. Please spread the word!
